Hedva Ser is a contemporary artist well-known for her sculpture, tapestry and jewelry. It was through “the Grande Chaumiere” that Hedva Ser gain admission to Nissim de Camondo’s Art School in Paris and to Horney College in London. She began as a painter and sculptor and then took up tapestry, which she developed in her own way by introducing a new technique of sculptural relief. As student of Alicia Penalba, Hedva Ser is inspired by nature which reveals both power and poetry, tenderness and astonishment. Each of her creations is an invitation to go on a journey. Hedva Ser travels the world, her eyes fixed on the sky or on the horizon, wherever the earth becomes immaterial, where the air and the intangible take bodily form. Irregularities of nature, the waves and foam of Greek and Breton seas, the stones and dunes of the desert or Patagonia and magical contemporary landscapes strive towards the “sublime” experience which constantly confronts modern art, the assimilation of the finite and the infinite, or the conscious and the unconscious, the particular and the universal, order and chaos. |
